I design and construct jewelry and other metalworks in a charming studio space, often working one on one with my clients who wish to have a piece custom made. Bringing my clients’ ideas to life, making that special gift for a celebration, or repairing a much loved piece of jewelry brings me joy. I am a work in progress as an artist and continue to experiment with new shapes, forms and materials. Color and texture inspire me and I am continually trying to say more with less. Vintage graphics, furniture, pottery and fabrics from the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s are my favorite collectibles and these graphic elements surely find their way into my work.
My designs are constructed from silver, gold, bimetal and palladium (soon in platinum too!). Fine, colorful gemstones and minerals are becoming a featured element in my work as I have learned more about the microscopic world they each contain. My work is fabricated using a jewelers’ saw, hammers, punches, a torch and other basic tools. I draw on the creative history of my family and am influenced by the many strong women in my family who have been painters, dancers, vocalists and photographers. My greatest support and comedy relief is found daily in my husband, an illustrator and animator.
Adornments are personal and special things. They are tactile objects that appeal to the senses and can be infused with emotions and memories. I hope you enjoy my work as I have enjoyed creating it for you.
