Mel Davenport

Mel Davenport, a Nashville native, retired from the Nashville Fire Department after 28 years of service. He is a self-taught artist who resides near White House, TN, in Sumner County.

“I usually prefer to eliminate backgrounds in my work, and use only black and white, or a few solid colors, to enhance and accentuate my subjects. The Art Deco movement of the 1930’s, the sleek and modern styles of the Fabulous Fifties along with the Golden Age of illustration from the 1960’s are my favorite inspirations. I firmly believe in the maxim “less is more.”

For me, simple and bold is the way to go!
